Welcome To The St.Albert Jiu-Jitsu Dojo

What was formerly known as the Edmonton Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Dojo is now the St-Albert Jiu-Jitsu Dojo. We just moved to 8610 Mckenney Avenue in the Mission Shopping Centre, where the old St.Albert Food Bank used to be. Classes will start on July 6th, 2009.

New Women's classes starting January 5th

We are starting a new women's jiu-jitsu classes on January 5th. It will be taught by Sensei Lisa Poudrier. if you felt intimidated with training with men, now is your chance to do jiu-jitsu with only women.

1st grappling tournament - January 30th

The St. Albert Jiu-Jitsu dojo will be hosting their first tournament of the year on January 30th. Everybody is welcome. We will have no-gi round robin divisions as well as gi divisions. Same format as the Arashido grappling tournament.

Christmas Children's grading

Sensei Doré and Sensei Lisa just graded some children's from our class on december 22nd.

Open Mat Session with Arashido North

St.Albert Jiu-Jitsu Dojo hosted an open mat session with the Arashido North gang, december 5th. It was a great session. we all had fun and learn something in the process

Arashido Charity Grappling Tournament - December 12th

Hailey Allan was the sole competitor from the dojo attending the Arashido Charity grappling tournament on December 12th, and did oustanding. She place 2nd again in the 12 - 15 years old division, competing against 8 boys.

Arashido Grappling Tournament - November 7th

4 of our members attended the 4th grappling tournament in the series at Arashido North on November 7th, and came back with a lot of metals for the 4 members competing. Dave Owens placed 1st in the no gi divisions, and 3rd in the gi division.

Fabio Holanda Seminar

Sensei Doré had a great seminar this weekend with Fabio Holanda at Hayabusa Training Centre. We had three separate sessions: a gi, no gi jiu-jitsu, and mma session.

Roy Harris Seminar

Sensei Doré and Darren Makeiff attended this seminar. I learned quite a bit that day. Roy Harris spent the whole day on hold downs, and ways he modified them to make them more effective.
